Awesome post! You’ve got some fantastic stuff put together here, and I can hardly wait to see more from this site. Although I don’t agree with some of von Balthasar’s philosophy/theology, I do appreciate the quote you used here. 🙂

I’m a lifelong atheist who wants to believe in God and Catholicism. As such, I’ve bought the books you listed and am praying every day, not to mention going to Mass with my Catholic fiance who inspires me. Seeing how it will go….

So great to hear from you Harvey. Please stay in touch. Your intellectual honesty and your willingness to unpack the arguments and follow them where they lead is refreshing and admirable. Let me know if I can help in any other way!

Just to update a bit. I’ve been going to Mass and reading the Bible to know who God is. I find that, when I’m in Church, I really believe. It feels uplifting and I feel as though I finally believe. But it doesn’t last long enough. I want to have faith always. Praying also helps me but in planning to convert to Catholic I want to have faith all the time. I think it takes awhile though. I’m planning on developing more friends in faith so that I can feel sort of like I’m in Church always, in some sense. I think that if I can keep this up for the rest of my life that, at some point, I will forget what thinking like an atheist is like as thinking otherwise will become a habit of sorts, like learning a new language to the point of thinking in that language naturally.
